The 22nd Annual Rockbridge Beer and Wine Festival was hosted Chamber of Commerce Serving Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County on Saturday, September 10, 2016. It was held at Lime Kiln Theater, directly off of Route 60, about 1 mile west of downtown Lexington. This venue allowed for easy access to the site, an abundance of free parking and lots of space for festival-goers to enjoy the festivities.
Tracy Lyons, Executive Director of the Lexington Rockbridge County Chamber said, “Not only does it bring people into our community to support our economy. It’s just a showcase of all the great things we have going on. Not only the businesses and the restaurants and the food but the tourism and the things that people can do in Lexington and Rockbridge.”
The event served an impressive selection from 11 wineries and 8 craft brewers.
Three popular live bands were there to entertain festival-goers on two stages. PG-13 of Soul Expressions kicked off the festival, followed by MOOSSA and back by popular demand, headliner Fatty Lumpkin and the Love Hogs capped off the evening.
A variety of food vendors were there to offer many different food and drink pairings, ranging from the intimate rose-fragranced Traminette from Rockbridge Vineyard with Goat Cheese from Razzbourne Farms to the exciting Green Chili Ale from Blue Lab Brewing Co. with Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings from JamRock Island Grille!
All told, it was a fantastic success, providing a fun opportunity for the community to mingle and the vendors to showcase their many great products. We look forward to putting on next year’s Beer and Wine Festival!
