2016 Annual Meeting & People’s Choice Awards

On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, the Chamber of Commerce serving Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County, hosted it’s 2016 Annual Meeting in the Appomattox Mezzanine at the Virginia Horse Center.  The over 150 guests in attendance enjoyed a networking reception catered by C.H.E.F.S. Catering before hearing “State of the Chamber” updates from Dr. John Rainone, President of the Board of Directors, and Executive Director Tracy Lyons.  In addition to recapping the successful initiatives and events that the Chamber hosted this year, over 50 new members were welcomed and recognized by Membership Coordinator Elizabeth Braddy.

The evening concluded with the presentation of the 2016 People’s Choice Awards by the Chamber’s Quality of Life committee.  This was the eighteenth year for the awards, and only the second time they have been presented in conjunction with the Annual Meeting.  Nominations were received from the Rockbridge County community at large as well as our area civic organizations.  Public voting began at the Rockbridge Community Festival at the end of August and continued, both in person and online, through October 15.  Nominees received over 2,000 votes this year!  The awards were sponsored in part by the Buena Vista Rotary Club, Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees, Lexington Rotary Club, Mountain City Lodge No. 67, and the Sunrise Rotary Club.  We’re pleased to announce this year’s winners!
