



Committees
Purpose: To create a list of short and long term goals that will help develop and enhance the economic climate for the Buena Vista business community with structured timelines for implementation. We will try to create an environment to develop retail marketing and promotion programs to compliment the committee goals.
Meeting Date: Third Wednesday of every month, 8:30 a.m., City National Bank Buena Vista
Future Projects: Coffee and Conversation, held on May 12, August 11 and November 17 at 8:30 a.m. at various locations in Buena Vista.
Purpose: To foster better relationships with the business community, the area colleges, the local government and the Chamber; To create open dialogue between all three jurisdictions and partners, with issues concerning business, retail and economic development.
Membership: This committee has representatives from all four colleges, the mayors and chair of the Board of Supervisors, staff (economic development and/or planners) from all three jurisdictions, Tourism, Main Street Lexington, the Shenandoah Valley Partnership, the Chamber Executive Director and local business owners.
Meeting Dates: Fourth Monday of every month, Rockbridge County Extension Office, 10:00 a.m.
Purpose: To promote the business/local government partnerships among the legislative bodies in Rockbridge county, Buena Vista and Lexington. To be the voice of the business community and foster business needs while preserving the quality of life.
Meeting Date: Second Tuesday of every month, Chamber Board Room, 8:30 a.m.
Past Projects: Legislative Breakfast kick-off for local/state election campaigns, open forum for local state election candidates, State of Community Breakfast.
Future Projects: To continue to be the voice of the business community of governmental and transportation issues. Fall candidates forums and the State of the Community Breakfast.
Purpose: To craft the Chamber message and presence in our community. This committee is responsible for research and the implementation of educational workshops and seminars for members. They are also responsible for planning and supporting area retailers with Cash Mob visits and shop local initiatives.
Meeting Date: First Tuesday of every month, Chamber Board Room, 9:00 a.m.
Future Projects: Cash Mob visits and Small Business Saturday
Purpose: The Ambassadors are the goodwill ambassadors of the Chamber. They provide an additional touch to members throughout the year to encourage more involvement and to share the benefits of being a Chamber member. They also assist with recruitment of new members and with retention of existing membership.
Meeting Dates: First Thursday of every month, Chamber Board Room, 8:00 a.m.
Future Projects: Campaign 601
Purpose: Helps partner civic groups, to work more closely and in harmony with the business community. A way civic organizationsto be involved in the business community and honor individuals that make Rockbridge a great place to live and work.
Meeting Date: Third Friday of every month (June-October), Chamber Board Room, 12:00 p.m.
Future Projects: People’s Choice Awards
Purpose: To help establish long term goals for the organization. Currently chaired by the Chamber Vice President
Meeting Date: TBA
Past Projects: Help facilitate our Annual Meeting for the general membership. Helped evaluate the “State of the Chamber”, by looking into the board, committees, budget & staff.
Future Projects: Lead the development of a 3-5 year strategic plan for the Chamber.
Purpose: To help develop the tools, skills and knowledge for potential leaders of our community. The program is part leadership, part introduction to the people and organizations that make Rockbridge rock.
